The Invention of Hugo Cabret

Title: The Invention of Hugo Cabret
Author: Brian Selnick
Rating: Two and a Half Guitars

Sizzilin' Summary:
Hugo Cabret is an orphan clock keeper who hides in the walls of a train station. He steals to survive, avoiding getting caught and sent somewhere else. He also steals from a toy booth to get machine parts for an automaton hidden in his quarters... an automaton his father had been working on fixing when he was killed! But when the toy booth's owner finally catches him, things begin to both unravel and click into place. Secrets are discovered... and there is more than meets the eye with the toy-booth owner.

Rockin' Review:
Pictures done in movie-like sequence: very well done.
Written story: okay. (how well the story was written; reason for half-guitar)
Bad?
The not-so-well-filled expectations.
During the whole book, I was expecting it to get sci-fi, or at least steampunk! But that was not how it happened. I even had an expectation for what the toy-booth owner really was, but it turned out totally different, and not in a really fulfilling way.
I would not suggest reading and/or getting this book.
